the biggest loser pinoy edition doubles says goodbye to the obsina sisters

the biggest loser pinoy edition doubles had its first elimination last thursday after its first competitive weigh in. again, husband and wife doubles carl and kayen topped the chart with a combined percent weight loss of more than 8%.

the bottom 2 doubles up for elimination were the obsina sisters (tin and diane) and the officemates (bien and mai). the other doubles were asked to vote for the pair who they think should leave the camp.

after the 6th doubles has voted, 1 pair voted for the officemates and 5 voted for the sisters. the five votes were enough to send the sisters home.

but recently, the sisters were spotted as part of the madlang people of showtime, looking very good and it is evident that they continued their journey outside camp.

american idol 13: top 13 revealed

american idol revealed its top 13 finalists last night in their live show. during the show's first ever rush week, only 10 girls and 10 guys were chosen to sing live and vie for america's votes. the other girls and guys that were not called were eliminated.

the contestants also had a training camp with former judge randy jackson and a formidable group of coaches. joining them are american idol alumni chris daughtry and adam lambert.

after the votes, the top 5 girls are:

1. malaya watson
2. emily piriz
3. jessica meuse
4. majesty rose york
5. mk nobilette

the top 5 guys are:

1. ben briley
2. alex preston
3. dexter roberts
4. caleb johnson
5. sam woolf

the judges then asked 5 contestants to sing again for the wildcards. the chosen 5 are cj harris, jena irene, spencer lloyd, bria anai and kristen o'connor.

in the end the judges chose 3 wildcards:

1. jena irene
2. kristen o'connor
3. cj harris

i think this is a good mix of contestants and i am happy that part-filipino malaya is still in the running.

the philippines says thank you

the department of tourism launched a short video in its youtube channel showing filipinos saying thank you to the world. this is after the tremendous support extended to the country after the devastation caused by typhoon yolanda (or typhoon haiyan).

philippines will be represented in the 2014 winter olympics

after 22 years of absence in the winter olympics, philippines will be making a comeback this year with our lone qualifier. he is none other than michael christian martinez of figure skating.

michael is 17 year old and is from paranaque city. he qualified for the winter olympics by placing 7th in the 2013 nebelhorn trophy. michael will be one of only 30 men who will perform in the figure skating event in the olympics.

he is currently being coached by john nicks, ilia kulik and maria teresa martinez. he has been training both here in the philippines and in the united states.

he will be performing at iceberg skating palace in sochi, russia on february 13 (short program) and february 14 (free skate). the winter olympics will be covered locally by tv5. let us all hope that we will be able to watch him.

the second season of the local franchise of the biggest loser - the biggest loser pinoy edition doubles will premiere in abs cbn on february 3 at the primetime slot, right after the legal wife.

this season will feature pairs in their journey inside the biggest loser camp to achieve their target weight and have a more active lifestyle and better food choices.

this season will be hosted by iza calzado with robi domingo and matteo guidicelli as challenge masters. the coaches will be the husband and wife tandem of coach jim and coach toni saret.

i am really thrilled to hear that the next season of amazing race will be an all stars season. here is the video released last week, introducing the returning teams:




i am really happy to see the cowboys and the globe trotters racing again this year. i am also looking forward to seeing the afghanimals and team brenchel on how they can again stir up this season.
