Merely just a few days after the season finale happened, Big Brother 19 pair Jessica & Cody are off to join another reality show in CBS - the 30th season of the Amazing Race.
This is not the first time that Big Brother alumni are crossing over to The Amazing Race. BB couples Jordan & Jeff and Brandon & Rachel joined the race. On the flip side, TAR racers Jeff & Jackie joined BB17.
The news was confirmed by a tweet from the official Twitter account of Big Brother which has a link to an article in the CBS website:

BIG BROTHER 19 : WHY JOSH WON
The 19th season of the US version of the hit reality show Big Brother just ended last week and the boy from Miami - Josh, was declared the winner this summer with a vote of 4 votes to 3. He bested runner up and returning veteran Paul and 15 other house guests. So why did Josh won?
Let's see how the pros and cons of Josh's and Paul's game play and strategy and how each jury member voted to see why they chose Josh to be the big winner.
JOSH
Josh a trainwreck this summer. He was an easy target when he chose to get the golden apple for safety in week 1 head of household competition since he felt he was the target which was not the case. He was very emotional, he cried a lot in the house. He is most popular this season by playing havoc in the house by banging pots and pans and annoying everyone.
The most strategic game move he had was when he aligned with Christmas. Everyone is playing in pairs this season and finding a more logical player to balance an emotional player like him is ideal. Christmas was able to control Josh and bring him to his senses everytime he would go ballistic.
Josh also did his part in winning challenges and getting the blood on his hands. He was head of household 3 times and it was on his HOH weeks where 2 of the fiercest competitors this summer was evicted - Jessica and Alex. Also, he won the last HOH challenge where he was able to choose to evict Christmas and bring Paul to the final two - which was a bit risky knowing how the Paul played the game.
One flaw I think Josh had in the game was he never had the courage to take a shot at Paul. He was the only person in the house in that final 8 that realized that Paul was doing things behind their back - orchestrating chaos between the pairs. But despite this, he remained loyal to Christmas and Paul and did not nominate Paul. I think if he took that shot, he would have gotten more jury votes.
PAUL
Paul entered the game with a big target behind his back. He was a returning player and was able to reach final two without a solid alliance midway through the game. He was able to enter the house after Kevin took the temptation of $25,000. Unlike last season, Paul really dominated this year's show.
As he have said, Paul has a hand on each and every nomination and eviction this summer. He made the impossible happened - people throwing challenges left and right, people not using veto on themselves and even getting a one legged Christmas win a foot race challenge. Almost everyone trusted Paul and he had a great social game and was able to manipulate almost everyone in the house. He had alliance with all the pairs in the house without them getting suspicious of him.
Paul also won 3 head of household competitions - eliminating Cody on week 3 and Kevin on week 11. He almost evicted either Jessica or Cody on week 5 if not for the halting hex of Jessica. But I think he worked more behind the scenes this season, not getting much blood on his hands. He might have been orchestrating the things happening in the house but he hid behind others' backs to much and he did not own up to the lying he had done until the end.
JURY VOTES (in order of how Julie read the votes)
Christmas - voted Paul because she respected Paul's game more over Josh. Remember she said she will not bring Josh to final 2?
Kevin - voted Paul bacause he really thinks Paul looked after him the entire game but in reality he was a pawn in Paul's game.
Alex - voted Josh simply because Paul did not use the Veto on her which lead to her eviction. Paul was really the reason why she was eliminated.
Raven - voted Paul because they were the puppetmasters of the game which everyone did not really see.
Jason - voted Josh because he is a sore loser - which he himself said during the jury interview. Paul was the one who blindsided him.
Matt - voted Paul because Raven voted for Paul. And because he loves cereals.
Mark - voted Josh because Elena voted Josh, And also he simply does not like Paul.
Elena - voted Josh because she said Paul has no jury management. He did not own up for his gameplay. Also, she said it before - she is a bitter jury.
Cody - voted Josh because he had said this before - he will not vote for Paul.
Over-all, I think both Paul and Josh deserved the final 2 spots this season but Paul deserved to win more. Everyone thinks this season is Big Paul since Paul is orchestrating everything that is happening in the house but I think he played too hard. Josh on the other hand played with heart and emotions never fail. This has been the worst season so far that I have watched mainly because only Paul did awesome game moves and I am looking forward to a better Celebrity Big Brother this winter.
Let's see how the pros and cons of Josh's and Paul's game play and strategy and how each jury member voted to see why they chose Josh to be the big winner.

At least 4 Filipino talents has auditioned and passed to the bootcamp round of the 14th season of the UK version of the hit reality talent search X Factor.
It can be remembered that in season 12 of the same show 2 years ago, the girl group 4th Impact (previously known as the Cercado sisters) competed in the show and eventually finished in 5th place.
First to audition was 40 year old dinner lady Gaga Lord. She auditioned with a Shirley Bassey classic and James Bond movie theme song "Diamonds Are Forever". She got the judges' approval bot just through her boss but also with her personality. Here is her audition video:

An 18 year old Filipina student from Australia also audition - Elysa V and also advanced to the next round despite battling jet lag on the auditions:
A boyband group then took the Filipino talent to the X Factor stage. The group named JBK - composed of band members Joshua Bulot, Bryan del Rosario and Kim Ordonio, showcased their voices with Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down" and was able to get all 4 yes from the judges.
Last but definitely not the least, a familiar face also auditioned - Alisah Bonaobra. Alisah first went viral after a video of hers singing "Let It Go" in a shopping mall was posted on line. She was also the runner up in the 2nd season of The Voice Philippines, finishing runner up under Team Apl. She auditioned with Beyonce's song "Listen" and also got the 4 yes from the judges.
I am hoping that all these Filipino acts reach the live shows and eventually I hope one of them wins the title. Good luck and we are all cheering for all of you!

UAAP SEASON 80 : A SWEET SATURDAY FOR THE UP FIGHTING MAROONS
Last Friday, our office volleyball team had a game against one of the good teams in our office tournament. One of my colleagues asked me, do you think we can beat them? I just answered, "Of course. You will start losing once you stop believing."
Unfortunately for us, our team lost but we still forced the game to a deciding set and in our hearts, we still won.
Yesterday, it was UP Men's Basketball Team's game against the defending champions De La Salle University. I actually planned to watch it at home but my sister called me last Friday night and said that we can still get tickets for the game. Being the impulsive person that I am, I agreed to go to MOA arena and watch the game.
I was scrolling my Twitter feed just before we went to MOA arena yesterday and I saw this tweet from UP MBT rookie point guard Jun Manzo:
I was tempering my expectations - DLSU having a perfect record so far and with Ben Mbala back into the fold, I was just hoping for a miracle win at best or just at least a close game. We were there just to cheer our hearts out for the team since I really believe that this can be the team that can put UP back to the Final Four after so many years.
The game started quite as what people expected it to happen. We scored the first points with a 3 point shot from Juan Gomez de Liano but the Green Archers just stepped on the gas pedal after that and built a lead over the Fighting Maroons. The quarter ended with DLSU ahead by 9 points - DLSU 27 - 18 UP.
A more composed UP entered the court in the second quarter. They outscored DLSU by 13 points this quarter and headed into halftime break with a 4 point lead; 47 - 43. What made this quarter sweeter was the fact that almost at the end of this quarter, Rob Ricafort scored his first 2 points in the season with a shot from a pass from Paul Desiderio who slipped near the baseline. Rob battled his way to play for UP after being declared ineligible due to the age limit by the UAAP board but a TRO was released by the court to allow him to play.
May I just say here that the UP Pep Squad had an awesome halftime performance which I think was not shown on TV.
The 3rd quarter was just like a see saw battle between the two teams, with no team having the clear advantage. This is also when the UP crowd was on high gear as well - cheering on the team point after point after point. I also watched the UP - UST game 2 weeks ago which ended with the clutch 3 points by Paul Desiderio. The crowd then was wild. In this game, the crowd was larger and in number evidently but was outnumbered by the DLSU crowd. But we cheered our hearts out. The quarter ended with UP ahead only by 1 point, 66 - 65.
In the fourth quarter, the UP guys really stepped up, with Janjan Jaboneta hitting crucial 3 point shots, Jun Manzo really setting plays and also getting crucial shots, big men Ibrahim Ouattara and Paolo Romero helping the cause, the Gomez de Liano brothers helping on both sides of the court and Paul Desiderio taking charge. DLSU was in an unfamiliar territory - being down by double digits in the last 3 minutes or so in the final quarter. With great defense translating to good offense, UP did the unthinkable - beating the defending champions by 11 points - 98 - 87. A big congratulations to the team for this big win.
*Sorry for the blurred pic. It was hard to get a picture while shaking with excitement and singing UP Naming Mahal after winning this game.
This is a huge win for UP - not just for the players but for the whole community as well. As this blog post started, you should always believe in your self so you can win in any battle in life. With a good performance in the pre-season tournaments, I really believe that this team is special. I hope that the whole community - the students, the employees and the alumni - would also start believing and supporting this team. We have nothing to lose here, we have been in the dumps for so long and now we have started to taste victories that shows us the big hearts our players has, we owe them the support they need. We will always be one UP community.
After all, we only start losing when start to stop believing,

The International Table Tennis Federation posted a video in their Facebook page for the fund raising to help raise money for the treatment of Filipino table tennis athlete Ian Lariba:
In the video, Lariba needs to raise $60,000 (approx. PhP3 million) for the radiation therapy and bone marrow transplant. Their newly formed ITTF Dream Building Foundation has generously started the ball rolling and donated $20,000 to Lariba.
I really hope the table tennis stars would come together and help Ian in her fight. Hoping for Yan's fast recovery and hope to see here competing again soon.

2017 FIBA ASIA CHAMPIONS CUP : ISAIAH AUSTIN ARRIVES IN MANILA TO REINFORCE CHOOKS TO GO PILIPINAS
Isaiah Austin has arrived in Manila to reinforce the Chooks To Go Pilipinas Team in the 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup in Chenzhou, China starting on September 22.
Austin is a 23 year old 7'1" center from California, USA. He applied for the 2014 NBA draft and was one of the prized prospect that year. Unofrtunately, he was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome and had to withdraw from the draft. He recently played for the Guangxi Rhinos. He brings with him not just height and length but also an agile, athletic center with perimeter and outside shooting.
He is also being considered as a candidate for naturalization to be part of the Gilas Pilipinas team. He really fits the guy that we need - an athletic young big man that can adapt with the dribble drive offense that Coach Chot Reyes is running. This most probably be his acid test. If he performs well, there will be a big possibility that he will be naturalized.
He was welcomed in this post from Coach Chot Reyes' Twitter page:

It looks like Thailand's Mono Vampire is not the only Southeast Asian team that will join the 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup in Chenzou, China on September 22 - 30, 2017.
After a successful partnership with Gilas Pilipinas in the Jones Cup, 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and the 2017 Southeast Asian Games; Chooks to Go is again partnering with SBP to send a team - Chooks to Go Pilipinas to this tournament as well.
It was first announced by Coach Chot Reyes in his Twitter page with this post:
It was confirmed by this article posted in the official website of the 2017 FIBA Asia Champion's Cup. Apparently, the Japan team SunRockers Shibuya withdrew due to the conflicting schedule with the B.League. Thus, FIBA awarded the wildcard to the Philippines.
The Chooks To Go Pilipinas team will be coached by none other than Coach Chot Reyes and Coach Jong Uichico as his deputy. Confirmed part of the team are Gilas players Fil-German Christian Standhardinger, Kiefer Ravena and Rayray Parks. It is also reported that Reymar Jose, Kobe Paras (if allowed by his college team), Jeron Teng, UP Maroons Jett Manuel and Bright Akhuetie will also join the team.
It is also not clear if PBA will also be allowing the Gilas Cadets to join the team, as this is not a national team tournament.
The team will be in Group A with BC Astana of Kazakhstan, Mono Vampire of Thailand, Petrochimi of Iran and Sarreyet Ramallah of Palestine.
The last time Philippines joined the FIBA Champions Cup was in 2011 when Smart Gilas Pilipinas hosted the other teams in the tournament. The team ended in 4th place that year.
Good Luck Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas! #LabanPilipinas
