The country's first medal is a silver - won by the Chinlone (Linking) men's team in Sepak Takraw after they qualified in the finals after the morning qualifiers but succumb to the Malaysians in the finals. This is a good start to the sepak takraw team's campaign since they are targeting to win 6 medals in this games - 1 gold, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes. In 2015, they only won 2 medals - 1 silver and 1 bronze.
The second medal was a bronze medal from Archery, won by Paul Marton dela Cruz in Men's Singles Compound Archery event. He edged out a Malaysian archer in the battle for 3rd place where they both shot to a score of 144 but his best arrow was closer to the bulls eye so he was awarded the bronze medal. Unfortunately, the distaff side was not able to get a medal.Gallant stand by PHI sepak takraw team!
